Setting Preferences in Claims Estimate
Setting Preferences
There are a few recommended settings to configure in your preferences. These settings affect the appearance and functionality of Claims Estimate. Preferences are device-specific, so these changes only need to be made once—unless you start working on a new device.
To set your preferences in Claims Estimate:
- Click the Estimate (E) icon at the top left of the screen.
- In the dropdown menu, click Preferences.
General Tab
- A new window will open in the General tab. These are the default settings, but you can adjust them to suit your needs.
- Set Auto-save recovery information to every 1 minute. This ensures that in case of a computer crash or unexpected program closure, all your work up to the last minute will be saved. (Note: This does not replace the need to save your work regularly.)
Sketch Tab
- Click the Sketch tab to set sketch preferences.
- Set the roof snap color to red. This is useful if you want to overlay a roof plan directly onto a floor plan.
- Set Show dimensions only in inches for measurements under 12". This means a measurement will be displayed as 1'2" instead of 14".
- Deselect Overlay floor plan.
Items Tab
- Click the Items tab to configure settings related to the items panel.
- Set the delay for the quantity and note window after adding an item to 5 seconds. This gives you a few seconds to adjust the quantity when adding the item.
- Use the scroll bar on the right to scroll down to the Item View section.
- Set Action location to Before. This allows you to see what action you’re taking on an item (Remove, Replace, etc.) before the item description.
- Select Show column headers. These will be visible in your item view.
- Select Quantity and Unit Price. These are common headers, but you can choose the columns you want to display.
Photos Tab
- If you want a higher resolution photo, select 1024 x 768.Once the recommended preferences are set, click OK.
